What an amazingly humble prayer from FDR. May we find our way back to this reverence and understanding of God before we become the nation that righteous men fight against. May we not only begin to cherish our history again but may we learn from it. May we remember that yes, we were founded and governed for a long time by people in both political parties who believed in Almighty God and turned to Him, especially in times of trouble and war, for guidance and victory for the righteous. May God hear our prayers and soften the hearts of those who have hardened them against Him. May we stop putting our faith and trust in men and government and return to the one, true King, our Heavenly Father. As He did so many times before with His people Israel, may God have compassion on His people in America, forgive us, and remit the demise that is coming our way. In Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

Dear Liberty,
Today is the 70th Anniversary of D-Day and a commentator on the radio made the point that today’s liberals could not have fought World War II. Today's liberal is about appeasement. (see Safe Spaces)
This point could not have been made more dynamically than by Pres. Obama releasing the top five terrorists from Guantanamo Bay last week. The desire to appease comes from the belief that it will make peace with our enemies. They truly believe that there is absolutely no time or place for war. The problem with that viewpoint is many of the adversaries we are negotiating with don't have that same perspective. They have no problem killing to get what they want. In fact, most desire it. They are more than happy to have you lay down and give them what they want. It is seen as a sign of weakness. Contrary to progressive thinking, appeasement does not satisfy the power-hungry dictator or the jihad driven Islamic extremist. It makes them stronger, bolder, and more determined than ever to completely obliterate their appeaser.
In September of 1938, Neville Chamberlain, Prime Minister of Great Britain, was hailed as the “savior of Europe” after returning from Munich where he, France, Italy, and Germany signed an agreement to split Czechoslovakia to placate Hitler. Everyone was convinced he saved Europe from another war and brought peace to the area. He prided himself on his desire and ability to appease his foes to keep peace. Six months later Hitler took over the rest of Czechoslovakia. World War II officially began just shy of a year after the Munich Agreement when Hitler invaded Poland. (see The British Bulldog)
Liberty, there are people in this world who just want to destroy and control others whether it be by war or by taking your rights, freedoms, and liberties by deceit. If you do not stand for your rights, someone will come and take them. Though war should be a last option, it should never be considered completely off the table because your enemies will ultimately resort to it no matter how much you give in to them. As Saint Augustine stated, “Though defensive violence will always be a sad necessity in the eyes of men of principle, it would be still more unfortunate if wrongdoers should dominate just men.”
D-Day is an example of the honor, integrity, resilience and endurance Americans have shown over the years. But even more important than that is the faith and reverence Americans have had for Almighty God. There was a time when Presidents, whether Democrat or Republican, would unashamedly offer prayers to God as is demonstrated in this message from Franklin D. Roosevelt on June 6, 1944 - D-Day.
D-DAY VS. TODAY:
HOW FAR WE'VE COME
“My fellow Americans, last night when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our allies were crossing the channel in another and greater operation,” Roosevelt said. “It has come to pass with success thus far. And so in this poignant hour I ask you to join with me in prayer.”
Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.
Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.
They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph.
They will be sore tried, by night and by day, without rest-until the victory is won. The darkness will be rent by noise and flame. Men’s souls will be shaken with the violences of war.
For these men are lately drawn from the ways of peace. They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let justice arise, and tolerance and good will among all Thy people. They yearn but for the end of battle, for their return to the haven of home.
Some will never return. Embrace these, Father, and receive them, Thy heroic servants, into Thy kingdom.
And for us at home – fathers, mothers, children, wives, sisters, and brothers of brave men overseas – whose thoughts and prayers are ever with them – help us, Almighty God, to rededicate ourselves in renewed faith in Thee in this hour of great sacrifice.
Many people have urged that I call the Nation into a single day of special prayer. But because the road is long and the desire is great, I ask that our people devote themselves in a continuance of prayer. As we rise to each new day, and again when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips, invoking Thy help to our efforts.
Give us strength, too – strength in our daily tasks, to redouble the contributions we make in the physical and the material support of our armed forces.
And let our hearts be stout, to wait out the long travail, to bear sorrows that may come, to impart our courage unto our sons wheresoever they may be.
And, O Lord, give us Faith. Give us Faith in Thee; Faith in our sons; Faith in each other; Faith in our united crusade. Let not the keenness of our spirit ever be dulled. Let not the impacts of temporary events, of temporal matters of but fleeting moment let not these deter us in our unconquerable purpose.
With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogancies. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister Nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil.
Thy will be done, Almighty God.
