Dear Liberty,
“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded,” said Barack Obama in July of 2008. He made this comment in a speech while referencing increasing foreign service and expanding the role of the Peace Corps, both noble causes. But many on the Right heard those words as an indication of something somewhat more sinister. Perhaps because it has the rhyme of history.
Following his response to the Ferguson riots and his administration’s reactions to the death of a Baltimore teen in police custody, that sense of foreboding has returned. (see Just The Facts, Ma'am) Determined to follow the advice of Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s former Chief-of-Staff, “You never let a serious crisis go to waste,” Al Sharpton has stepped forward to help the cause. “We need the Justice Department to step in and take over policing in this country.” Disguising it as a Civil Rights issue, Sharpton continued, “In the 20th century, they had to fight states’ rights - to get the right to vote. We’re going to have to fight states’ rights in terms of closing down police cases.”
As with Ferguson, those with an agenda are exploiting the death of an African-American for their own benefit without any regard to the facts. Claiming racist police brutality, professional protest groups, many funded by George Soros, or other regular suspects like the Nation of Islam and the Black Panthers were aided by the violent street gangs the Bloods and the Crips to descend on Baltimore and organize violent, destructive riots destroying many of the essential businesses in the area. As facts are coming to light, the early reports we were told regarding the events are becoming more and more disturbing, but not because what was done, but what was allowed to happen.
After a peaceful protest in Baltimore turned violent on Saturday, April 25, local high-schoolers planned a 3pm “purge”, or time for unlawful behavior, on Monday at the Mondawmin Mall. Because the event was announced on social media, city officials were aware of the event well in advance. This warning allowed the police and political leaders to take preemptive action, to minimize the event. However, this never happened.
The purge was allowed to occur and the criminal conduct quickly spilled into the streets of Baltimore. Businesses were looted. Unoccupied police cars were destroyed and set on fire. A CVS was burned to the ground. One business owner called emergency dispatch 50 times with no response. Anticipating a Monday night riot, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake scheduled a city curfew. The curfew didn’t take effect until Tuesday night. The Mayor even stated that her actions “gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well.” She backtracked her comment, but it was later confirmed by officers that she told the police to stand down and allow the destruction to happen.
But that’s just the beginning of the questionable actions of local authorities. Hours after State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby received Freddie Grey’s autopsy, she charged six officers with unlawful arrest and murder. This is highly unprecedented. Thorough investigations take weeks, not hours. Race-bater activists cheered the prosecutor’s indictments not knowing she conveniently concealed the fact that three of the six officers charged were black, including the officer with the harshest charges. She also didn’t divulge her personal and political relationship with the Grey family lawyer, Billy Murphy. He was not only a campaign donor, he was on her transition team and a “mentor” to her. Ethically she should have recused herself from this case, but ethics plays no part in social change. (see A Change Of Heart) How can she be impartial when she has close ties to the family’s lawyer? She has given the defense a strong argument to have the case dismissed, possibly allowing guilty suspects to go free. This will only lead to more violence at a later time.
The racism accusation is easily dismantled with a simple look at the facts. Half of the officers charged are black. In fact, over half of the Baltimore Police Department are minorities. Four of the top six commanders as well as fifty-four percent of those ranked as captain or above are minorities. Just like all the other cities that Obama, Sharpton and Liberal Democrats label as disasters, Baltimore has been run by Democrats for decades. If they’re still in ruin after 40 years of Democrat control, is it possible that Democratic policies are the problem? Or do they not want these problems fixed because they have another objective?
Baltimore receives millions in federal money. After the riots there was a call for federal oversight. Is there a connection between this and the cops being told to stand-down? Why were abandoned police cars in the streets when the rioting happened just waiting to be destroyed? Who made this decision to start the curfew on Tuesday night and not Monday? Why was the destruction allowed to happen when it could have been avoided or at least minimized?
When events like this happen, its important to look back to history for guidance. History provides us with both insight and warning. In Baltimore, rival gangs were brought together to fight the police. They are simply falling prey to political propagandists to become what Lenin termed, “Useful Idiots.” They can be manipulated, angered and led to demand, riot, destroy and even kill for what they believe to be a noble cause. During the rise of the Nazi Party in the 1920’s, a paramilitary group formed known as Sturmabteilung, or the SA. They earned the nickname “Brownshirts” due to their uniforms. Strong advocates of socialism, these revolutionaries, consisting of a large number of youths, used threats and violence to destroy political opponents. Hitler willingly allowed these soldiers to bring him and his Nazi Party to power in 1933 as they effectively ruined anyone who opposed him.
A year later, Hitler realized the Brownshirt’s mobster-like mentality was too threatening and radical to those he needed to rebuild Germany. Regular Army leaders, leaders of industry and ordinary citizens had to support him if he intended on conquering more territory for Germany. The Brownshirts were threatening Hitler’s plans as they terrified the average German citizen.
Hitler thought he brokered a compromise between the SA and the regular Army, but SA leader Ernst Rohm continued his efforts, declaring, "The SA is the National Socialist Revolution!!" Heinrich Himmler led a subgroup of the SA known as the Shutzstaffel, or SS. They became Hitler’s personal bodyguards. Hoping to oust Rohm and benefit from his downfall, Himmler stirred the pot, exploiting the already growing tensions. He lied to Hitler claiming the SA was planning to overthrow him and convinced him to take action against the SA.
Many SA leaders, including Rohm, were homosexuals. Hitler ignored this, even though he was actively targeting homosexuals at the time. because the SA was too useful to his rise in power. Once their services became a hindrance instead of a help, Hitler used their unlawful homosexuality as an excuse for their execution. They had merely become another group of Lenin’s useful idiots. He ordered the SS to “purge” the Brownshirt’s top leaders on June 30, 1934. That night they were arrested, imprisoned and eventually killed by the SS.
After the top officials were in custody, the next day Hitler commanded the execution of other SA leaders along with other undesirables, some of whom helped put Hitler into power. SS troops followed the Reich List of Unwanted Persons, murdering upwards of 1000 Germans in one weekend with less than half actually being SA officers. In a speech two weeks later, Hitler declared, “In this hour I was responsible for the fate of the German people, and thereby I became the supreme judge of the German people. It was no secret that this time the revolution would have to be bloody; when we spoke of it we called it 'The Night of the Long Knives.' Everyone must know for all future time that if he raises his hand to strike the State, then certain death is his lot." Getting his wish, SS leader Himmler, along with Reinhard Heydrich, rose to great power and were instrumental in carrying out Hitler’s violent and murderous reign over the next decade.
Seeing this history, why would Al Sharpton demand a federal police force that gives this president, or any future president, the power Hitler had? When the police are under local control, the people have the power to protest, vote and fix problems in the department. This was seen very clearly in the massive changes made in Cincinnati’s police force following that city’s 2001 riots.
On the other hand, who do you vote out or protest with a federal police force? The police force would be run by a political appointee who was not elected. If a president wishes to use the police force as a political tool instead of law enforcement, what recourse do citizens have? Could the Jews resist when they were thrown in concentration camps? What happened to German citizens who disagreed with what was happening or chose to hide or help a Jew? Who refused when the Nazis religiously and racially persecuted the Jews, forcing them to wear a yellow Star of David inscribed with the word Jude (Jew)?
Barack Obama shrouded his call for a civilian army behind a stronger national security. Al Sharpton changed the narrative to include racism. In the end, the goal is the same - federal control of police. A federal police force is not only completely unconstitutional, it is a threat and danger to both the freedoms and the lives of the American people. There are those that support Obama no matter what he does. But they should at least take an honest look at his behavior and see how it mirrors behavior of the past. When the demand for a federal police force is combined with the Obama administration’s demand for strict gun control, the pattern of history becomes all too clear. Hitler enforced gun control before unleashing his civilian military on the people. That is part of the reason the citizens, both Jews and non-Jews, had no ability to fight back. The 99 percenters, Soros funded groups, the New Black Panthers, Crips, Bloods and other anarchists stirring up trouble in Ferguson and Baltimore are going the way of the Brownshirts if America does not wake up. Terrified citizens will eventually call for an end to the violence, rioting and destruction. The Administration will become judge and jury, just as Hitler did, and those carrying the Revolutionary banner will be the first to be sacrificed. Each of these groups are merely the next stanza in the rhythms and rhymes of Lenin’s ode to useful idiots.
Progressive soldiers don’t have to be violent, though. Despite the fact that just a few years ago Obama and Hillary Clinton were adamantly against gay marriage, they seem to have radically changed their views and embraced the cause. Some Progressive politicians are cheering the religious assault radical homosexuals are waging against Christian businesses. (see We Reserve The Right To Refuse Service) It destroys their opponents, causing Christians to remain silent as more and more rights are taken not only from them, but everyone. How long until these useful idiots are no longer beneficial? Are these homosexuals just being exploited like Ernst Rohm until they too become a liability?
Liberty, you must always study and learn from the past as it is doomed to be repeated. The good news is if enough of us are paying attention, we can change the path we are on. I will do my best to make this a better outcome for you.
