Dear Liberty,
Last Saturday, a 4-year-old boy climbed over the protective barrier to the gorilla exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo. He then fell 10-12 feet into the moat separating the public and the gorillas. Harambe, a 17-year-old, 450 pound silver back gorilla followed the little boy into the moat and proceeded to play with his new toy.
While Harambe appeared not to be intentionally harming the boy, his actions were life threatening. Harambe had grabbed the boy and dragged him around the moat, risking both drowning and/or serious head injury. The little boy was nothing more than a stuffed doll to the gorilla. He was treating the boy no different than any 4-year-0ld would treat a favorite toy.
The zoo had only moments to make a decision on what to do. They could try tranquilizing the animal, but the medication takes time to enter the gorilla’s system. During that period, Harambe could have become angry from being shot, agitated by all the gawkers, or simply continued to unintentionally endanger the boy until he collapsed. They needed an immediate termination of the threat. The only option was shooting him.
Harambe was an endangered species. Killing him was an incredibly difficult decision but one that needed to be made to save the child. The zookeepers love those animals. They spend every day with them. Those animals are as precious and loved as any family pet, which often themselves become family. I’m sure the zoo officials and employees that had to make this decision will carry it with them for a long, long time, maybe even the rest of their lives. That being said, they had no other choice. The life of the child was paramount.
Stories quickly flooded the news outlets with half facts and narrative driven commentary. The common reaction was to blame the parents for not watching the child as well as they should. As you are 4-years-0ld right now, Liberty, you can move fast even if my back is turned for just a second. I can’t imagine what the parents of the little boy were going through as they watched their son being dragged up and down the moat by an animal that weighed eleven times more than he did.
Social media was set ablaze by commenters furious over the death of the gorilla. Some, in fact, insisted the gorilla’s life was more important than the boy’s. This, Liberty, just magnifies how lost humankind really is. As patrons of the Cincinnati Zoo, we enjoy those animals almost on a weekly basis. We go there to learn about the animal kingdom, to see them first hand, not to leer at them. We don’t want any mistreatment to be bestowed upon them, just like I’m sure the toddler’s parents did not want Harambe harmed. But a boy’s life was in danger. I will choose you over a million animals every time, Liberty.
While leftists and environmentalists are lamenting and agonizing over Harambe’s death, some of them are actually doing it on the way to the abortion clinic. (see When Does Life Begin?) It is mind-boggling that the outrage over the death of one gorilla was only equaled by Hobby Lobby trying to save thousands of unborn babies.
Many claim humans have destroyed the earth and the animals on it. There are cries we all should be eliminated. Well, Mr. Evolutionist, why didn’t you jump in the pit and sacrifice yourself to save the boy? If you honestly believe in the evolution theory, then what truly is your issue? Evolution is the understanding of the survival of the fittest. Isn’t that exactly what happened? The fitter species won?
If you believe in the evolution theory, you know that it hinges on species evolving to a more advanced stage. If we, as humans, are at this point the highest stage, how can you then condemn them for their actions? If you do, then you are refuting your own scientific theory. You are in effect arguing that mankind has devolved into a more barbaric species than the gorilla that could rip your arms off or a group of termites that can irradiate a complete home.
Most believe the predecessor of the human race is, in fact, the gorilla. According to Darwin, this is only partially correct. According to Darwin’s theory, Africans evolved from gorillas, the simplest and dumbest primate, and are the least evolved of all humans. Asians descended from the orangutan and Caucasians, the “master race”, came from the smartest primate, the chimp. If that is the case, then why didn’t Harambe evolve? Why, for millions of years, has he stayed a gorilla? Why did he stop evolving while his brothers and sisters turned into us? Why do we have thousands of species that basically have lines that stopped evolving while others continued to change and adapt?
Liberty, these questions are very easily answered. It is simply the denial of God. To not accept evolution would mean the only other option would be creation, and that is just not possible for some. As I stated in Sleeping Beauty, Dr. George Wald, a Professor of Biology at the University of Harvard, said, “Spontaneous generation that life arose from non-living matter was scientifically disproved 120 years ago by Louis Pasteur and others. That leaves us with only one possible conclusion that life arose as a creative act of God. I will not accept that philosophically because I do not want to believe in God, therefore I choose to believe in that which I know is scientifically impossible, spontaneous generation arising to evolution.” (see The Science Is Settled)
Militant anti-Christian physical anthropologist Sir Arthur Keith declared, "Evolution is unproved and improvable, we believe it because the only alternative is special creation, which is unthinkable."
Speaking on evolution, Dr. R. Kirk in "The Rediscovery of Creation" in National Review, said it this simply: ”Darwinism is a belief in the meaninglessness of existence."
The death of Harambre could not have revealed any plainer that we are in a fight. A fight for the souls of ever human being living and to come. It appears like Satan is winning, convincing people a gorilla's life supersedes that of a 4-year-old child. Women brag about murdering their unborn child while demanding punishment, possibly imprisonment and the forfeiture of the children, for the parents of the little boy.
“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:4
Liberty, though it feels like we are losing the battle, God has already won the war. We must continue to confess the truth, praying souls will convert to the winning team before Christ’s return. In the process, remember to continuously and vigorously guard your own soul as Satan's attention is keenly focused on you.
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:11
That’s my 2 cents.
Love,
Mom
